Motorcycle Mystery Solved: Expensive Harley Found in Gulf Shores Canal

Gulf Shores Police Department Dive Search team has found an abandoned motorcycle in the canal. It was an orange Harley-Davidson Road Glide, completely covered in muck and mud when they pulled it out of the water.

The police department posted a photo of the motorcycle on their Facebook page, saying officers were trying to clean the bike and get to the identification numbers so they can find the owner, but the numbers have apparently been tampered with, which indicated the bike might have been stolen.

They also shared a photo of what the bike most probably looked like before it sunk. It is a base model Road glide that costs around $22,000.

The Gulf Shores Police dive team found the motorcycle while retrieving another vehicle. It was corroded with mud everywhere and getting the VIN number removed was tricky because there was so much debris. Barnacles had grown over it.

As it turns out, the bike was, indeed, reported stolen on December 31st, 2017. The owner is from Alabama, and nearly a year later, he isn’t sure he wants the bike back.
