Time to get excited, Sons of Anarchy fans, FX has some incredible news for you!
Today, FX announced that they will shoot a pilot for Mayans MC, which is the next chapter in the Sons of Anarchy saga and it will be written by Kurt Sutter and his producing partner Elgin James.
Sutter is the one who created the incredibly popular SOA for FX, and he is the one to direct this pilot episode.
Production is set to begin in March 2017.
FX has hinted before about wanting to develop an SOA spinoff, but this is the first time the network has released more details about the plans to focus on the Mayans motorcycle club. Sutter will set the drama in a post-Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes — a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border — struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel and his need for respect from the women he loves. Any fan of SOA knows how the Mayans were recurring and pivotal players during the show’s seven-year run. The club of Hispanic men controlled northern California and all of Nevada, and the president of the Oakland Chapter was Marcus Alvarez, played by Emilio Rivera. Their cuts bore the phrase “Los Asesinos de Dios” which means Assassins of God.
