Kyle Petty leading 200 bikers across Montana for charity

More than 200 bikers are trekking across Montana on Sunday and Monday, including a few sports legends, all in the name of raising money for charity.

Former stock car driver Kyle Petty led motorcyclists through the Treasure State stretch of his 8-state, 2400 mile journey for the 23rd Annual Charity Ride Across America.

Other celebrity riders include NASCAR legends Hershel McGriff, Harry Gant and Donnie Allison, former NFL great Herschel Walker, Heisman Trophy winner (1980) George Rogers, NASCAR driver David Ragan, NBC Sports NASCAR personalities Rick Allen and Rutledge Wood.

The tour helps raise money for Victory Junction, a camp for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

“When you see a child that comes to camp for the first time, that has spina bifida, that has gastro-intestinal [disease], has a blood disorder, who can’t go to boy scout camp or girl scout camp or a regular camp, they can come to this camp, and this is the first time they’ve been able to be in a canoe, first time they’ve been able to fish, first time they’ve ridden horses and done things that everybody does at other camps… It changes their lives, and that’s what it’s all about,” said Petty.
