Florida Man Sets Love Rival’s Harley on Fire: They Both Liked the Same Woman

A man from Florida has been accused of setting his love rival’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle on fire in a gas station parking lot, according to the police.

David Leroy Knutson, 63, is facing charges with second degree arson after a store surveillance camera captured him pouring lots of flammable liquid on the Harley and then lighting it.

During the investigation, Levy County Sheriff’s Office detective Justin Douglas came to discover that the suspect and the gas station’s clerk are rivals who share interests for the same woman.

“Knutson was the jilted lover and in his efforts to set the record straight, he set the clerk’s Harley on fire,” police said in a press release, Newsweek reports.

As WGFL reported, the woman had chosen to be in a relationship with the clerk which led to Knutson’s outburst.

“Both gentlemen had affections for the same woman and it would appear that the gentleman that owns the motorcycle had deeper affections that were reciprocated by the woman,” Lt. Scott Tummon told the Florida media outlet this week. “So Knutson took offense to this and in efforts to let his displeasure be known he decided to let this man’s motorcycle on fire.”

If convicted, Knutson (CLICK HERE to see his inmate photo) will face a potential sentence of up to 15 years behind bars, 15 years of probation and a $10,000 fine. He is currently held at the Levy County Jail on $500,000 bond.
