Motorcyclist Beheaded in Freak Accident on California Road

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.— A motorcyclist was decapitated Tuesday morning in a freak accident in San Bernardino.

Fabian Zepeda, 27, of San Bernardino was decapitated by a low-hanging cable after a car crashed into a power pole, leaving the cable hanging across the street.

Minutes earlier, a driver lost control of a Ford Taurus, which hit a mailbox and ran across a lawn, police told the Riverside Press-Enterprise.

The car then hit a wooden telephone pole that snapped in half, and a tension wire fell across Macy Street, coroner’s officials said.

Zepeda drove into it and was beheaded.

The driver didn’t appear to be intoxicated and wasn’t immediately arrested pending further investigation, police said.
