PRINCETON — Bikes will be roaring again in Princeton on the weekend of April 8 to 10.

It is time for Bikers for Christ’s Spring Fling, with the 2nd Annual Nianne’s Ride for the Kids on April 9.

Sponsored by Bikers for Christ, East River Mountain Chapter, the ride raises funds for the Mercer County Foster Care Association.

“We had 219 bikes in the ride last year,” said Tracy Sibley, event organizer. “This year is shaping up to be even bigger.”

The ride is named for Sibley’s late sister, Nianne Sibley, who died in 2013 of cancer at the age of 53.

“Nianne was an officer with the Mercer County Foster Care Association,” he said. “She was treasurer and had also fostered more than 100 kids, and she adopted four of them.”

Sibley said he told his sister when she was sick that he wanted to do a ride to raise money, maybe for the American Cancer Society, but she wanted the money to go to the foster care association.

“She always loved kids,” he said. “She had a heart for them.”

The weekend kicks off April 8 at a meet and greet at the Holiday Inn Express in Princeton.

“We will meet at 5 p.m. and ride down to the church (Cornerstone Family Church) at 6,” he said, adding that they will have a prayer and then go eat.

On Saturday, April 9, registration for Nianne’s Ride for the Kids begins at 8 a.m. at the church at 119 Brick St., Princeton. Kickstands are up at 9:30 a.m.

The first 400 to register will receive a special bandana.

Fees for registration are $20 for a single rider and $30 for two or more riders (includes meal). Non-rider meal ticket is $10. Cars and trucks are welcome, too, he said.

Door prizes will be given and a 50/50 drawing will be held.

Live music will be performed by Salt Shakers Blues Revue with Clinton Collins. On Saturday evening, Eddie “Bigun” Day, a blues hall of famer, will perform.

“There will be a lot of good music at the church,” he said.

April 10 is “Rumble Sunday,” with a Terry Durham tribute lap at 8:30 a.m.

Sibley said Durham was a Princeton man and a “brother” who died after having a double lung transplant.

After the ride, coffee and donuts will be served at 9 a.m. and the worship service will begin at 10 a.m.

The speaker will be Pastor Z, Bikes For Christ founder.

Sibley said local businesses have been “awesome” in donating prizes to give away at the event.

“We raised $6,000 last year, and our goal is for more this year,” he said.
