A former doctor has shot six people, three of which other doctors, before shooting himself dead at a New York hospital this afternoon.

NYPD rushed to the Bronx Lebanon Hospital on Grand Concourse right after receiving reports of a ‘man dressed in a white lab coat, carrying an M-16 assault rifle’ at around 2.50pm local time.

The reported shots were fired inside the hospital and CBS News reported the shooter to be dead within an hour after the incident started.

At 4.46pm CBS reported six confirmed victims.
