SAN DIEGO — Unfortunately, it seems fire has been after bikers and motorcycles these past few days. After the fire that destroyed hundreds of motorcycles in a dealership in Escondido, a Kearny Mesa masonry shop and an adjoining suite used by a motorcycle club to assemble toys for needy children was destroyed by fire early Monday.
The fire at Global Tile & Marble on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard near Mercury Street was reported shortly after 1 a.m. The building was unoccupied at the time, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman Monica Munoz said for Fox 5.
Brian Trum, a member of the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club, heard about the fire and came to see the damage for himself. He says the club uses the space to assemble and store bikes for their annual ‘Christmas With Kids’ bike giveaway.
The bikers are still trying to determine how much memorabilia and donated raffle prizes were stored inside the burnt unit.
