CHP Uses High Tech Airplane to Catch Dirt Bike Riders

OAKLAND, Calif. — California Highway Patrol officers say the agency tracked a group of more than 30 all-terrain vehicles, dirt bikes and motorcycles over the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge and discovered that they were harassing other drivers.

Many in the group thought they got away, but the CHP caught up with them thanks to a new, high-tech airplane that was watching them the whole time.

The East Bay Times reports that the group’s members fled after CHP officers tried to stop them on Sunday evening.

The pilot of the agency’s spotter plane followed the main group of riders and directed CHP officers to a smaller group. When officers surrounded the group, one motorcyclist fled but was later stopped.
