101-year-old Vet Gets a Harley Ride for His Birthday

Leroy “Mike” Minlschmidt is a World War Two Veteran. On Friday, he got to feel the wind in his hair as a part of a birthday Harley ride.

Minlschmidt used to enjoy riding a bike and he fondly remembers traveling the country on a motorcycle, with his wife as a companion.

“It’s been a long time since I had a motorcycle ride,” said Leroy “Mike” Minlschmidt for Fox11.

“I used to enjoy riding on the bike” he said. “Wherever we stayed I’d unload the bike and travel. My wife rode behind with me”.

Appleton Harley-Davidson provided Minlschmidt’s ‘chariot’ Friday during a special event at Brookdale Senior Living in Grand Chute.

It was a sort of a late birthday party for him!

“He has a real passion for Harley-Davidson and was hoping for a ride for his birthday and we’re here to accommodate him with that,” said Joshua Doughty, the president of Appleton Harley-Davidson.
